$55pp RETURN SHUTTLE

The Tongariro Crossing is a one way track - so you'll need to arrange return transport or shuttle from the end point. The track takes most of the day and as it is in a remote area, theft from and vandalism to cars left at the track entrance is an issue to be aware of. We recommend you leave your vehicle here at the lodge so we can keep an eye on it for you!
 

DETAILS
The shuttle is $55 per person from National Park Village (and that includes a return trip).
 
Times changeable due to weather conditions and numbers of people going, phone or email for departure times.

Arrange a pick up time to summit Mt Ngauruhoe (before you leave). We do have some cell phone coverage on the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, depending on what service you are with.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED FOR THE HIKE...

As the weather conditions can change rapidly in the region you need to be prepared with:

  • Tramping boots, (or good strong footwear)

  • Day pack

  • Warm wool or fleece jumper 

  • Waterproof coat

  • Hat (either for sun or warmth, depending on weather) and gloves

  • First aid kit

  • Sun block 

  • Food and Water

HIRE CLOTHING:

We can arrange hiking boots, rain jackets, pants, hiking poles and backpacks. We can also provide crampons and ice axes (when required).
